Diary I am beyond PO’d!! Last week I purchased what I thought was going to be the best Groupon ever! I was sooo excited to get such a good deal at my fave Bikram Yoga spot. Unfortunately both Bikram Yoga and Groupon screwed me royally and disappointed me beyond belief.
So one of my fave people asks me last Monday if I have seen a Groupon for the place we go to for Bikram Yoga. I had not and immediatley had her send me the link. So I read what I thought was very carefully the awes0me deal, as did my fave, that was for $69 you could get a 10 class session for what is usually $165. The only stipulation was that once you used the first class you had 3 months to use the rest of your classes before they expired. I was super down with that . My only hesitation was to spend $69 on myself right before the holidays when I know I should be saving and really didn’t have the $69 to spend on myself (I should add that over this season isn’t only Christmas but my nephews, fathers, 2 cousins, 1 uncle birthdays, then New Years is the BF and my anniversary and a few days later is the BF’s bday, his sisters, my bestie and one of my cousins is about to pop a kid out on New Years as well.).
Needless to say I bought the Groupon and before I could even transfer the money or get my confirmation BAM my card is charged, I know what you are thinking “Moron why didn’t you transfer the money first”, I didn’t and got an over draft fee to boot!
The very next day I get an e-mail from the Bikram Yoga place saying they won’t honor the Groupon I purchased because it was supposed to be for “NEW STUDENTS” only and apparently this place felt that Groupon didn’t express this well enough in the fine print. I would like to add that less than 60 people had purchased this Groupon by the time I bought mine and the deal was ending in less that 8 hours after having been up all weekend. So either no one thought to look at the Groupon before or after it was posted or they realized they screwed themselves with such a good deal I am not sure. My only 3 options were to 1. Get a refund, 2. Instead get a 20% discount on the 10 class package or 3. If I had not attended class since June 1st they would honor it. Unfortunately I had been in July.
Mind you I had only gone to 1 class the trial class which comes with a week unlimited classes for $20 ( a good deal) but it was a hectic week (I was on vacation for my birthday) so I couldn’t make it back. I figured this Groupon would get me back into it.
I e-mailed the Bikram Yoga place to say I thought it was very bad business to not honor the Groupon since less than 100 people purchased it and it expired within 3 months of the first use so how bad could that really be when this place is packed 24/7 according to everyone I know that goes there. I told them I would let everyone know their bad business practices and (this is a chain around Long Island and the Groupon was only for 1 of their facilities) I would refrain from using any of their facilities ever.
Then I e-mailed Groupon asking for my refund and let them know also how disappointed I was that this place didn’t honor their Groupon.
The Bikram Yoga place has yet to respond or apologize to my e-mail. Groupon felt it necessary to scold me saying I didn’t read the fine print well enough and should before purchasing any Groupons. I did read it as did my friend who always does because she knows I sometimes get too excited and forget to. After she read it I took a gander myself since I was spending $69 and I didn’t see any mention of “NEW STUDENTS ONLY”. I did get my refund but am disappointed in both.
That is my rant! POO POO to you Bikram Yoga and Groupon! Next time get your act together!!!!
