If you read my blog you know how I feel about religion. That being said I can respect others beliefs and traditions. Everyone’s personal situation is different. What I really can’t stand is those folks who are religious when it serves them best. Like when something bad happens or a holiday comes up. It irks me to the fullest.
My favorite example is Khloe Kardashian. She is forever posting bible verses on Twitter but do you ever see her participating in any religious even or any of them for that matter? I wasn’t even sure what religion the Kardashian’s as a whole were if any. I can only assume it is some sort of Christianity due to the Jesus and Bible verses but I tend to think that because Christianity sounds allot like Christian (Louboutin) is the real reason for definition. She and her family don’t seem remotely religious unless perhaps they don’t televise that one aspect of their lives. I feel like religion should be an all in type thing especially when you are a role model (good or bad) and have the ability to impress your opinions on millions. Either you are devoted or your aren’t. I know people might hate me for that but since the concept of religion is so contradictory and conflicted those who choose to make their religious views public should actually practice what you preach. Don’t just throw out verses because you want people to think you are faithful. Don’t baptize, communionize or confirm your kids because that is what the other sheep do and most of all don’t go around celebrating holidays making like you are a good religious sheep without actually practicing what the holiday is actually meant for. I am subjected to many a religious nonsense which I can’t stand but out of respect and love for my family I sit patiently and quietly until the torture is over.
I wonder when these semi-religious folks spout what they think they know do they actually know what they are saying? Have they read the actual religious texts and not just Googled it? Do they know the in’s and out’s of something so serious to so many people. These days I feel like people take their faith for granted because it is more of a PR scheme than an actual belief. I have no idea why this is so. I feel like if people paid more attention to the details they would see that in most cases they do not agree with or want to live their lives the way their said religion dictates. So why only just talk about it? Why not be about it? It is one thing to Tweet & FB about your love for your God but isn’t it worse to just use your faith randomly when it suits you than to actually have that faith even when it doesn’t? I think that is the part of religion many of these faddests have forgotten about. Religion isn’t just about the happy fun, life fulfilling parts (of which I can’t find any) but the parts where you have to live according to some one else’s rules and laws (from like a zillion years ago). How about for instance most women are secondary in most religions and there to take any abuses their husband poses on them? Really you want to believe in some one who thinks you aren’t as important as your husband? What if you don’t want a husband but a wife? What if you don’t want to have children? I bet Khloe wouldn’t want to deal with those aspects of being Christian right? I know I don’t, I can’t in good faith agree with half of the rules imposed upon me in Catholicism so I choose to not believe in any of it or follow it but I have respect for many of my family members who have a deep love for their religion. I don’t agree with it and sometimes wish I could shake sense in to them but I can respect that they are all in. They are Catholic even when it doesn’t suit them and they have no regrets about it. I think that is how religion should be. If you have to have one then you should have to follow it and conform your life to it.
Again I don’t me to offend anyone these are only my personal beliefs. I will admit the subject of religion confuses for many reasons. I am not a theologist so I do not have all of the answers just opinions.
