I weighed myself after not working out for the past month and not being incredibly diet conscious and have discovered that I have lost 24lbs in the past 4months. I want to say I am excited and can’t believe my hard work has been paying off but I am sort of underwhelmed.
After everyone in my office decided to go on Weight Watchers I jumped on the bandwagon and although it is easy to use and very helpful I really didn’t think it was doing that much for me. I have never had this much weight to lose before but lets say I am really not even at my half way point to be honest.
This is what I will say that although this has been a slow journey I think it was really the little things that I do that have helped me. I usually eat well and exercise semi-regularly but the one thing I wasn’t giving up enough of was drinking. I like a glass of wine or 4 with dinner or when we go out to party SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS! Now that I am 30 I have realized my 21 year old life style doesn’t cut it anymore. So despite my eating well, bike under my desk, elliptical, weights, yoga accessories at home it is really your mind set. I didn’t give up or give in. I did what I could the best way I knew how and when that wasn’t working enough I tried the one thing I was hesitant to try and that was stop drinking. I have limited myself to the weekends only and only if my Weight Watchers points allow. Then I started parking further away from the office building door ( I always take the stairs but I am on the second floor so not taking them for anyone is just plain lazy), I put fresh lemon &/or lime in my water ever day, I drink at minimum 1 cup of green tea a day (and usually it is 4 or 5 cups) and try to remember to take my vitamins on a daily basis & wear heels as often as I can ( I have no science for the heels but I feel I have to work harder to wear them than my flats and they just make me feel pretty). These things seem simple enough or even silly enough but it has done enough to keep me from my most recent plateau.
I’m not going to lie I don’t really notice the weight loss and it wasn’t really that hard which makes it seem a little un real but I have never had to lose this much weight before and after spending the last 4 years in a place where I have to drive every where as opposed to walking all over NYC I guess I had to find little ways to keep me fit and they are working, slowly but surely.
I know most of the world’s new years resolution is to lose weight or get into better shape so my proposal is to just go at your own pace. If it could come off fast everyone would be skinny. We are all different, our bodies work differently so just keep on doing what you are doing. There will be days you want to give up or think about becoming anorexic but remember everything worth having is work! If it wasn’t a struggle you wouldn’t appreciate it when you come to your end result.
Ps. A little tip I read today about getting your 8 glasses of water a day for those of you who aren’t fans of water or who just can’t do it remember that fruits and veggies container alot of water in them. So if you are loading up on your fruit and veggie in take you are probably reaching your water goal.
