Red Velvet Cream Cheese Brownies

Red Velvet Cream Cheese Brownies

Red Velvet Cream Cheese Brownie

I am not always a huge fan of red velvet but for my birthday my father made me some of the most amazing red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting I have ever had in my life. Now I seem to be craving it. I have been looking for super delish recipes to try and see if I can perfect this red velvet amazingness before my father does. You could say we are a bit competitive especially when it comes to food. This morning I saw this recipe someone had shared on Facebook and the photo alone makes me want to lick my computer screen.  I have no idea where this recipe is from or if it is good but if the photo is any indication these brownies are going to be super yum.

Ingredients:

1 Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix
3/4 cup butter, after melted
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Filling Ingredients:
4 ounces of cream cheese, softened
1 egg
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. Mix the first 5 ingredients and pour into a 9 X 12 glass baking dish

Pour this over & across the brownie mix. Take a knife & swirl through mix making a marbled design.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

Big Fish

Big Fish

Big Fish

Big Fish has been on alot lately. I have forgotten all about this movie to be honest but was pleasently surprised a few weeks ago when it was on. I have watched it 4 times since.  I really just love this movie! It is soo good. The imagery, story, writing and the cast. It was probably the last thing Jessica Lange had going for her before American Horror Story.
Big Fish sort of reminds me of myself in that I always wanted to be something amazing. I used to swear I was going to be famous as a child…much like many children do I assume. I would dream of these fantastical stories that would happen to me along the way. I fantasized by this time in my life I would have been married with children and would have accumulated all of these amazing stories of crazy things that happened to me along the way that I could tell my children all about.
I am sure I do have crazy stories (if I could remember them all lol) and I am sure fantastical things happened to me along the way but sitting here now, in my boring colored office I can tell you I am pretty sure not enough fantasy happened to have me sitting in the same spot I never wanted to be. I can relate to the father in this movie building up what he might have thought was a bland life to make himself sound more interesting to his friends and family.  I almost admire him for doing that.  Your truth is what you make of it right? Just because you see your past a different way then it actually happened doesn’t mean it didn’t?? Lately I have decided since I cannot change the past I am totally going to make the future into something I have always wanted it to be….Fantastic! I can say thank you to Big Fish for totally inspiring me!

Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey

Masterpiece Classic: Downton AbbeyI have talked to you guys about Downton Abbey before and how much I love it. Downton Abbey is in its second season and after this past Sunday’s episode I am more in love with it than ever. I think everyone should watch it and love it as much as I do.
First of all the show is on PBS which I feel never gets enough credit for how awesome it is. I know most people laugh and joke but PBS is more important than you might know. It should be our job to support it. If you need real actual news watch PBS, you can’t trust other channels. PBS runs amazing classic children’s shows, documentaries, features on people you should know better and so much more.
I know your idea of a good evening may not be pre-WWI English television but I promise you, you will get soo wrapped up in the writing and characters that you will never want to give it up. Downton Abbey has thrown me for a loop. I accidentally happened upon it one day and I have been addicted since. It is my personal mission to promote it for as long as I can to make sure no one misses out! So for me please watch it so you can love it as much as I do and so I don’t feel like I am the only one on earth that loves it this much! Thanx The Downton Abbey Fan Club President.

RIP Whitney

By now you have all heard about the tragedy of Whitney Houston’s death.  Her cause of death is still unknown but maybe for now that is a good thing.  Despite whatever problems she had or might have been going through she was and still is a superstar! Many of us remember her beautiful voice, hilarious reality show and perhaps her on and off again situation with Bobby Brown.  Many of Whitney’s hits bring back so many good memories for me personally.  He upbeat lively music and even some of her sultry ballads were with me during pivotal times in my life.  I am sad she is no longer with us and though I clearly didn’t know her personally I think we all are aware we have lost one more person to the world of fame and money.  Whatever happiness her talent had given her the same talent gave her just as many drawbacks.  That being said we shouldn’t focus on the negativity of it.  We should try to remember the positive things. In case you are too young to remember Whitney or never were a fan of hers maybe you should be. Here are some great albums and such that you should get in on.

Whitney Houston (The Deluxe Anniversary Edition) (CD/DVD)A deluxe anniversary edition with music and video! A great way to become a new fan or remember someone who touched you through her music.

Whitney Houston: Return of the Diva A great story about Whitney’s beginnings and comeback! Everyone loves a good comeback story right? You can really get to know who this amazing musician really was.

Whitney Houston – The Greatest Hits Whitney’s greatest hints are full of good times and good memories. If you weren’t a fan before you will be after hearing her fab famous songs.

Whitney Houston A biography of Whitney Houston. You can learn all about her from beginning to end. Learn what she had to go through before she became one of the most famous female voices in the world and after she had more fame than anyone would know what to do with.

Dale & Thomas Are Amazing

Dale and Thomas

Dale and Thomas

I have major gum in my hair for this one! I must apologize to Dale & Thomas because they sent me an amazing sampler for Halloween and then for the holidays and I was soo swamped I completely forgot to write a review!
This is not to say that I didn’t enjoy their treats so which is why I forgot about the review because there could be nothing farther from the truth. I hadn’t heard of Dale and Thomas (no I never watched Oprah, you must think that is blasphemous, so I had never heard.) until a friend of mine was raving about how much she loved their popcorn. I love popcorn in general, it pops into pretty white fluffy clouds of deliciousness need I say more, so I figured I should contact them about doing a review. Once I received their sampler of a varitey of chocolate, carmel, parmesan, popsters and pb heaven I must have been in such a food euphoria that I forgot to write about how amazing Dale and Thomas customer service has been to me by allowing me to try their yummies. I completely apologize and think that to make up for it everyone should go out right now and buy their 6 bag sampler pack which is only $14.95! That is a crazy good deal if you ask me.
Once you open those bags you will not want to share!! You have 16 different choices of either sweet or savory corn varieties. Did I mention their products are gluten-free and Kosher??!! If you aren’t a popcorn fan I promise after eating one of Dale & Thomas’ popcorn poppsters you will be a changed individual! Hello CHOCOLATE COVERED POPCORN BALLS!
I am not just raving about Dale and Thomas because I feel guilty but because I good company with excellent service is hard to find. The prices are amazing, the product tastes even better and the fact that they remember me and my blog is almost impossible, when I didn’t, with the high volume of business they do.
So if you want to give someone you love something way cooler than a big ol’ box of chocolate try Dale & Thomas! I promise you will get more than a kiss a gratitude for it!

I Need These Sunglasses

DSquared Sunglasses

DSquared Sunglasses

Ok, so maybe I don’t need them but I totally want them! These DSquared glasses are just plain old amazing but $450 really. What do sunglasses need to cost $450 for!! Why do people think it is awesome to pay that much for sunglasses that will probably be lost or broken anyway. I get it is a sign of elitism but really for sunglasses? Does anyone care if they are Fendi or Forever 21?   I admit I have been guilty of over spending for sunglasses periodically but like $70 and they were Michael Kors and perfect much like the DSquared’s above. I have no way to rationalize spending $450 on sunglasses or $450 on anything that isn’t serious like loss of limb or another tragic accident of the like! I say we band together and refuse to pay this kind of price for anything so we can all enjoy the loveliness that is high fashion!
When you think about it no one wants to wear last season anyway soo you are spending all of this money on clothes that you won’t be caught dead in more than a few times at most then it gets tucked in the back of your closet forever anyway…unless it comes back in style years later so you can then claim it is retro or vintage.
I know you get way more use out of sunglasses than most fashion items and if I did spend that much you bet your bippy I would super glue them to my face and so I could avoid losing or breaking them. Shoot, I would sleep in them if I didn’t think they would break or one of my pets wouldn’t nibble on them in the night!
Maybe I have been good enough this year for Santa to bring me these over priced spectacles of awesomeness for Christmas. If anyone you have a direct line can you please explain to Mr. Claus that I am a good, hardworking woman who in my spare time tries to save animals and the environment in every way I can and that although I am particularly unreligious if I happen to have these beauties left under my tree I will reconsider my dislike for religion and it’s nonsensical-ness because The Claus will have proved me wrong.
